The Regional Director for Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence (L.E.A.D.), Lt. Nicholas Glenn, met with Chief Reid and Assistant Chief Walker to discuss ways to enhance the educational programs provided by the SROs throughout the school district. Currently all Kindergarten and Sixth grade students receive instruction about making healthy choices regarding goal-setting and avoiding substance use and aggressive behavior. #MoveMarshall
Galena School Teacher of the Year 2023-2024 Mrs. Charisse Harris has been serving the students of Galena School for two years. She taught 4th-6th grade Science for one year, and currently teaches 5th-7th Science. Charisse’s students have consistently achieved outstanding scores on the district’s ELS 5th grade Science Benchmark Tests. She inspires all students to learn in creative ways, and has the respect and admiration of them. Mrs. Harris treats her students fairly as well as set high expectations for them all. Her classroom management skills allow her to have a setting that is instructionally sound, and she is consistent with discipline.Charisse has a positive relationship with colleagues and collaborates regularly with teachers and other staff. In addition to her instructional practices and positive relationships, Mrs. Harris serves on the school’s leadership team and is the lead Science Teacher. She continuously seeks ways to perfect her craft when planning and implementing instruction to ensure academic success for all of her students. Congratulations Mrs. Harris!
